Giving Back to Farmers in Uganda
Neil and Jo Fellowes at CommunitySoul have made their first micro loans to business outside the UK via Kiva.
CommunitySoul's drive is to help people develop through their businesses and through their day-to-day experiences in life.
Meanwhile, Kiva has a mission to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.
Neil Fellowes says, "An issue in alleviating poverty is that big banks don't loan money to poor people in 3rd world countries. That means that these people don't have the funds to start getting themselves out of poverty." |

CommunitySoul's latest loan is to Ugandan based, father of six children, John Mary.
"With our loan, and loans from others, John Mary will buy mulches and fertilizers to help improve his agricultural farm. The loan will help him improve his yields, and enable him to live a more satisfying life," says Neil.
"What I like about the Kiva set up is that when the loan is repaid to us we can just loan that money out again to another business person in need of help that an ordinary bank wouldn't loan to." |
If you would like to become a part of CommunitySoul’s lending team to help other people and groups like The Hope Foundation then please make a loan through Kiva.
Neil Fellowes says, " This is one way we can work together to alleviate poverty. Once you're a part of the team, you can choose to have a future loan on Kiva "count" towards our team's impact. The loan is still yours, (whether it be a baker in Afghanistan or a goat herder in Uganda) the repayments still come to you - but you can also choose to have the loan show up in our team's collective portfolio, so our team's overall impact will grow!
CommunitySoul made this loan with a percentage of profits raised through the Spirited Living Summit, a Summit where 13 of the world's leaders in personal development spoke on living life with fun, passion and purpose.
Spirited Living Summit also gave 13,000 free slots to people all over the world to listen. The Spirited Living Summit is still available either on on-line or on CD. Click here to find out more
